End of Season
Leicester City Ladies final month of the season saw a mix of performances and results in the league with away wins at Reedswood and Solihull the highlights.
The end of the season however will be remembered for the Leicester City Ladies first County Cup final in five years and penalty kicks is all that denied them regaining the trophy the club dominated throughout the 1990s. In a great first half of the County Cup Final saw four goals with Loughborough Students replied to Kay Hilliers early double strike. From there it came a tense affair with chances at both ends and this continued into extra time. Neither team deserved to loose on penalties but sadly someone had to and a 4-2 score line took the trophy back to Students.
Leicester City Ladies Manager Matt Cook commented after the final “It’s been a horrendous season really on and off the pitch so to have that occasion makes the season memorable, the team all had their family and mini players as mascots and the support for our team at Holmes Park was overwhelming and to be quite frank it felt like a home game, the families of the players were fantastic. To miss out on penalties is hard but the performance on the day was great. Hopefully there will be more happier events like the County Cup final next year as for a good club it’s had its hard this year, I just want to thank everybody involved for all their efforts in 2014/15.”

Firsts Bounce Back
Leicester City Ladies aimed to bounce back after a disappointing defeat to Leafield with an away trip to FC Reedswood. The away side had a mixed start with our forward play looking bright, but our defence starting off shaky. Leicester City Ladies who struck first when Kay Hillier was brought down in the box by the keeper, the ref played advantage perfectly and new signing Kim Yates reacted fastest to claim her first competitive goal for the club. The lead did not last long however after numerous cheap free kicks FC Reedswood found the back of the net from long range. Becky Preston then restored the lead picking up the ball from Kay Hillier, running past two players and hammering one in from twenty five yards out. The lead was almost taken straight away again when Sarah Burbidge brought a player down in the box leaving the referee with no choice but to award a penalty and a yellow card for the offence. Fortunately for Leicester City Ladies the penalty went high over the bar and the half time score was 1-2.
The second half started similar to the 1st with both sides trying to play attractive football, the 70th minute came and a late tackle on keeper Catt triggered a scuffle between Sarah and the Reedswood number 10, the referee gave Sarah her second yellow and the Reedswood number 10 received a booking for the tackle and talked her way to a second yellow leaving both teams down to ten players. Leicester City Ladies came to life in the last fifteen minutes and finished the stronger side with numerous chances for the front three of Kay Hillier, Khe and Kim which were all narrowly missing the target leaving the full time score 1-2.
Leicester City Ladies Player of the Match Becky Preston. Everybody gave there all in this match, Kay Hillier was also a big shout for player of the match with two assists.
